Canada Expands eTA Eligibility for Indonesian and Malaysian Air Travelers

The new rules permit citizens of Indonesia and Malaysia to apply for an electronic travel authorisation rather than a temporary resident visa if they have held a Canadian temporary resident visa in the past decade or currently hold a valid US non-immigrant visa. This change applies solely to individuals travelling to Canada by air, including those in transit. Officials anticipate the electronic travel authorisation will offer a faster and less expensive option compared to securing a traditional visitor visa.
