Egypt to launch digital visa on arrival at Cairo Airport in August 2026
Egypt will introduce a new digital visa on arrival system, using QR codes and electronic payments, at Cairo Airport starting August 2026.
The new system digitises the existing paper visa sticker, replacing it with an electronic QR code, and concerns only those travellers already eligible for a visa on arrival, with no changes to current eligibility criteria. Applications will be possible via self-service kiosks, an official website, or a dedicated mobile application, enabling electronic payment of the visa fee and any applicable service charges. This digital visa may also be secured up to 48 hours before arrival or through accredited travel agencies, with the rollout commencing across all terminals at Cairo International Airport before eventual expansion to all Egyptian airports.
