Ghana Launches E-Visa Portal, Offers Free ETA For African Travelers

Ghana officially launched its new e-Visa portal, replacing manual procedures and offering free electronic travel authorizations for African passport holders.

The new platform, officially inaugurated on 25 May 2026, is accessible at evisa.immigration.gov.gh, enabling all eligible travellers to apply, pay, and track their visa status digitally. For non-African visitors, single-entry e-Visas cost $260 for standard processing, with charges increasing to $338 for 48-hour priority and $442 for five-hour express service. Multiple-entry e-Visas are priced at $468, $608, or $796, depending on the chosen processing speed. African passport holders travelling for tourism or business purposes, whilst exempt from visa fees, must still obtain a free electronic travel authorisation via the new portal before departure.
