Israel to Require ETA for Visa-Exempt Travelers Starting January 2025
From January 2025, visa-exempt travelers will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Israel for enhanced border control.
The new Electronic Travel Authorisation, distinct from a visa, will be required for citizens from visa-exempt countries, processed digitally through a platform managed by the Population and Immigration Authority. Applicants must provide personal details, passport information, and the purpose of their visit; a processing fee, estimated at seven to fifteen US dollars, will apply. Most applications are expected to be approved within 24 to 72 hours of submission. Once issued, the authorisation will be valid for two years or until the traveller’s passport expires, permitting multiple entries during its validity period. Travellers without a valid ETA will not be permitted to board flights to Israel.
