Japan Launches eVisa for Philippine Package Tourists, Easing Entry

Japan has opened its eVisa system to eligible Philippine passport holders for organized package tours, streamlining the application process.

The expanded programme commenced on 15 May 2026, targeting Philippine passport holders who reside in the Philippines and are travelling exclusively for tourism as part of a package tour organised by an agency approved by Japanese authorities. This change eliminates the previous requirement for applicants to submit bank certificates, bank statements, and Income Tax Returns. The issued eVisa is valid for a single entry, permits stays of up to 15 days for tourism purposes, and remains gratis for Filipinos, exempting them from upcoming fee increases for other nationalities. Upon arrival, travellers must present their Visa Issuance Notice online, as printed or screenshot versions are not accepted, while independent travellers, business visitors, and students still require a standard visa application.
