The online portal, eta.dha.gov.za, details a system that will initially serve G20 delegates from China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico for a pilot phase commencing with the G20 Summit in November 2025. This electronic authorisation, linked to the traveller's passport, is intended for short tourist or visitor stays and is valid for multiple trips. By 2026, the system will open to the general public from these four nations, with further nationalities added in 2027. Applicants will require an ordinary passport valid for at least six months and must arrive by air at Johannesburg-OR Tambo, Cape Town, or Lanseria airports. The application procedure outlines a fully digital process including an online payment for processing fees, although no fee schedule has yet been released and the application function is not yet active.
