Sri Lanka Introduces Free 30-Day ETA Tourist Visas for 40 Nations
Sri Lanka offers free 30-day ETA tourist visas for 40 countries, but pre-arrival online approval is still mandatory.
The fee waiver applies to the Electronic Travel Authorisation for 40 designated countries, including Australia, Canada, India, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Commencing on May 25, the scheme grants eligible travellers a 30-day tourist visa with double-entry permission, valid from the first arrival date. Nationals of Maldives will receive a 90-day visa, while those from Seychelles and Singapore also benefit from free processing. While the visa itself is now free, any applications for extensions beyond the initial 30 days will incur a charge, and fees paid before May 25, 2026, are not subject to refund.
